I wonder why some friends I talk to regularly while some only communicate with me on a bi-monthly basis. It’s not that it means those I don’t talk to as often aren’t good friends, it just means we have different schedules. In fact, these days I rarely speak to my best friend, but he still is.

To me, a best friend is someone who is there and will be there after and throughout your life. They’ll be there now, tomorrow, next month and next year. Now, I don’t have many of these, but mine definitely are irreplaceable. With the holidays coming up, don’t forget to thank your friends and remember everything they’ve done for you. My best friends are the back bone of my life and are essential for my growth in this crazy world of ours.

I just want to make a point that it’s not just great teachers that sometimes shape your life. Sometimes it’s the absence of great teachers that shapes your life and being ignored can be just as good for a person as being lauded.
Julia Roberts (American actor)

Do you sometimes feel that you’re being ignored? Not just you, but everything about you?

I’ve felt and sometimes still feel this way once in a while. I feel like my whole self, even my character is ignored. That my qualities aren’t noticed because it’s not on the list that people are looking for. It hurts.

It hurts to know that people expect you to change because you don’t meet their criteria. How unfortunate is it that YOU have the change your ways, your lifestyle in order to be the person OTHERS want you to be. Then again, who are you to please? Your life does not belong to anyone else but you. Again I ask, why should other people’s opinion and thoughts about you matter?

Well, they shouldn’t, to an extent. We are all different, we come from different back grounds, experiences and along with it, various struggles and downfalls. That doesn’t mean we lack the understanding of one another. What we lack is the ability to acknowledge our differences and continue with our lives.

I don’t want you to be ignored as I have. The thought on its own is painful. Bear with me when I say this. You are who you are because of the life ahead of you and the people you will enjoy it with. Those who put you down now are ones secretly cheering you on because they’ve already missed their opportunity. You’ve got no one to prove, just a life to live. Live a life, inspired.

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.
George Bernard Shaw (Irish writer and socialist)

I heard a statement today that touched my heart deeply and I’d like to share it with you. “I’ll only give up on you if you give up on yourself.” What selfless words, only heard from a true friend, a life-long friend.

I remember not too long ago I reached the lowest point in my life. During this time, I had a less than handful of friends who stayed by my side. Even though they didn’t say this exact statement, they definitely expressed it in their actions. Looking back to that point in my life, this statement stands to be true. No matter how much or how little people, situations or circumstances make you happy, they contribute to your happiness. Take in the little things, because they do make the difference.

You may not know this yet, but it will get better, whatever ‘it’ is. If you’re at your lowest point of your life, trust me, you won’t be there for long. I’ve been there, struggled, cried, hurt, smiled, laughed and moved on. Life goes on and gets better, only if you’re willing to persevere and be patient.

I have a really awesome and amazing girlfriend. :)

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions.
Rainer Maria Rilke (Bohemian–Austrian poet)

I must confess, if I were asked what my weakness is, this would be it. Patience. It’s easier said than done, believe me. For the past few days my patience has been tried and tested, in and outside of my home. Now, whether I passed or not, I guess time will tell.

I remember when I was younger, patience, being my weakest character trait, would also be my downfall. Acting out impatiently hurt both me and everyone around me. You’d think I’d have my lesson learned from many trials of this so called ‘LIFE’, but nooooo. Although, at the same time, I do try to use every opportunity to learn from it. It does take more than just my will power to succeed, but perseverance and willingness to learn.

Some say that patience is a virtue, and I agree, but I no longer see that around me. I’d like to believe it and live by it so that perhaps one day I can lead by example. Maybe I can use your help in that? Maybe I do know you, maybe I don’t. The fact is, you’re reading this, so I assume you’re interested. Here it goes; Patience BECOMES a virtue when it becomes a part of your daily life. When you, or me, learn to deal with various circumstances and situations around us. This can range from waiting for your food at a restaurant to your group wanting to meet at a not so convenient time. In any case, practice patient, and and once this skill is mastered, your life will be an inspiration to others.
